Representatives from the European Union Delegation in Jordan visited the Shamal Start project today, where they toured the Fab Lab Irbid,And to meet with a number of incubtees.
Twchwork one of the initiative of the crown prince foundation has signed in Amman an understanding note with Shamalstart, the one which is for Luminus group that is located in Irbid
The note which was signed in the “ ideas factory “ in the business park states on building up the cooperation between the two sides, supporting the Jordanian youth in the digital manufacturing section, giving the youth the required skills in the new technology field especially the 3D technics field and provide them with science and knowledge to turn their ideas to products can be manufactured, and also states on working frequently on preparing national agendas supports the Jordanians innovators manufacturers and provide them with a learning and educational opportunities to build up their skills in addition to uniting the efforts and opening the doors for them to participate and exchange the experiences on the local, regional and international levels and performing many of joint events
Digital manufacturers labs are workshops and spaces follows an international works standards found in many international and global cities and follows a mutual linked network which allows exchanging knowledge, showing innovations and knowing the latest techniques and the used machines also allows getting a benefit and adopting the successful programs to share it locally and come up with a society specialist of innovators and manufacturers from all over the world which they provide their countries with many of innovators that have social and economic influence through the development of may evolve to an emerging company on the international level and by this company comes as a part of the “ ideas factory “ strategy to find like this network and the local community and to work on expanding it in the different provinces in the kingdom and to promote for the Jordanian innovators at the international level and ensure the integration of efforts with all entities

And Ibrahim Al-Safadi the general manager for Luminus educational group has signed on behalf Luminus Shamalstars/fablab Irbid
Mango said “ this understanding note comes from the institution care and the initiatives that is related to it on strengthen the Jordanian youth abilities, where we will work frequently on providing the Jordanian youth in general and the innovators in particular with learning apportunities, a chance to participate and exchanging experiences on different levels
Mango also added “ the idea of building a factory for ideas came to present the crown prince instructions with the necessary to support the Jordanian youth and encourage them on creativity and innovation, the idea factory is now an innovation stand available for everyone that helps the Jordanian youth, business leaders, private sector, local communities and the creative people and it helps them to evolve their ideas to tangible effective products and solution And to find a work environment open and save to test the effectiveness of their ideas and make it better
Alsafadi said that “ this note reflects the importance of exchanging experiences and the cooperation between the two sides to creat a network of innovations leaders on the local level and tell them about the modern digital manufacturing techies and the different abilities that it can provide them with
Pointing that Luminus Shamalstart and with the support from European Union has helped 100 leader by supporting them with more than 100000JD to transform their ideas into emerging companies and to creat 250 job opportunities
Loa’a Malahmeh the head of innovation section and the director of FabLab added that FabLab has worked on strengthen the digital manufacturing knowledge locally with the help of international organizations since 2016 and running more than 5000 working hours on different digital devices to support incubated companies and the local community
FabLab/Irbid has lunched “ FabLab Arab network “ initiative to emphasis the importance to link the innovators together and to exchange experiences on the level of Arab world, he also added that signing this note with the ideas factory established the principle of mutual cooperation between the two sides and to support the local manufacturers and the innovators in various fields
FabLab is one of the modern concepts on the worldwide level, it was lunched by Massachusetts institute of technology in 2015 it have modern technical tools and machines and it is based on global business frame that joins procedures and experts to contribute in making the manufacturing process easy and it depends mainly on innovative ideas and the creativity level for the users and the programs within each lab or workshop
On Wednesday, Representatives from the Government of the Republic of Korea and UNESCO Amman Office visited Alquds College in Irbid and Luminus Shamal Start Project. The guests got a tour in the college facilities in which they met number of the students who benefit from their educational scholarship at Al Quds College, they also visited Shamal Start project and get introduced to the incubated companies and Fab Lab Irbid
The One Foundation (which is an Irish foundation based in Dublin) and UNICEF have visited us at Shamal Start,
to know more about our incubation program for entrepreneurs, and the support that Fab Lab Irbid provides for the program.
On May 11th 2018, We celebrated our proud 10K Facebook followers reach with a Shamal Start Lunch and lots and lots of balloons! We were excited and happy of the big online family we have developed, and thrilled to have had such a big impact on the North of Jordan community. We only hope to grow bigger and spread wider within the next few years.
Our great Fab Lab team have created and assembled an Ikea Grow Room, a spherical structure that enables people to grow their own plants and food in a local and sustainable manner. The Fab Lab team built the Grow Room from scratch through using the Fab Lab facility and our high tech machines. They then proceeded to plant it with diverse and local plants and put it all together this May! A great way to encourage healthy living and a stress free environment that we can have our meetings in!
April's Open Day took place on 4/28/2018 with new and exciting workshops and agendas that were shared and practiced by the different and diverse members of our community in the North. This Open Day included 3D Printing and Laser Cutting workshops; were participants learned about the machines used, how they work, and practiced what they learned through printing 3D models and laser cutting items. Our agenda also included a new and interesting workshop called "Capacitive Piano", this workshop had participants building their own simple piano which incorporated hooking up fruits (apples and bananas) to wires and an Arduino board to play piano notes. The IOT Workshop was also apart of our agenda which helped participants know more about this field and how it will affect the world around us in the next coming years. And last but not least, drones! Participants were given the chance to fly drones that were created in our FabLab.
A great day filled with knowledge and fun that we got to share and experience with our community.
Luminus Shamal Start and the JADE project signed a mutual agreement to better serve Incubated startups at Shamal Start to support entrepreneurs in their path to success, development and innovation in Irbid and Mafraq provinces as part of the EU and Jordan partnership for that aims to the development of the private sector.
