Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Visits “Jordan Start”
The Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Engineer Sami Smeirat, visited the “Jordan Start” Accelerator at Irbid Development Zone on Wednesday 2 October, 2024.
The accelerator is considered one of the leading projects in nurturing startups and investing in creative ideas to transform them into successful and sustainable ventures. Jordan Start aims to provide financial, technical, and training support to empower entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into reality by offering a comprehensive working environment.
During the visit, HE. Eng. Smeirat reviewed several projects incubated at “Jordan Start” and listened to explanations about the support and empowerment tools that contributed to turning these projects into actual success stories. These success stories have positively impacted local development, improved the economic conditions of entrepreneurs, and provided job opportunities for local communities. Mr. Smeirat also toured the incubator’s facilities, which include the open workspaces for the startups, and the digital fabrication lab, the first of its kind in Jordan, equipped with a range of digital machines and tools for designing prototypes.
HE. Eng. Smeirat emphasized during the visit the government’s commitment to entrepreneurship in Jordan and its support for the entrepreneurial ecosystem, creative entrepreneurs, and innovators. This is being done through various pillars within the national entrepreneurship policy, which aims to create a friendly and motivating environment for the sector and remove obstacles in accordance with the Royal directives. The policy stresses the importance of accelerating the growth of the entrepreneurship sector in Jordan as part of efforts to implement the Economic Modernization Vision, focusing on the early stages of generating and developing creative and promising ideas through various support programs and business incubators.
