ShamalStart & JSRI Explore Space!

Luminus ShamalStart proudly supports JSRI: Jordan Space Research Initiative. Luminus ShamalStart will be supporting participants and competitors at JSRI by giving them free access to FabLab Irbid – the first of its kind state-of-the-art digital fabrication laboratory in Jordan.

JSRI was created in November 2020 to carry out the Jordan PESC roadmap and engage fellow Jordanians while contributing to lunar exploration. With the objective of eventually establishing an analog facility in Jordan where simulations of space missions can be carried out and future space technologies can be tested under conditions that imitate space environments, our aim is to stimulate space R&D in Jordan in a way that benefits life on Earth and aligns with sustainable development and Jordan’s national priorities and capabilities.

JSRI’s Spacesuit and Rover Competitions are the first of their kind in Jordan; no competitions in the field of space innovation have ever been designed and implemented in Jordan by a Jordanian team. JSRI’s first pilot analog study was launched this year in the desert of Wadi Rum. The goal of these two competitions is to foster space exploration efforts and research in Jordan. Participants in these competitions will design a spacesuit or a rover at FabLab Irbid that solves certain challenges that are currently being faced in the space exploration field.

Since its inception, Luminus ShamalStart has been working effortlessly to give innovators and entrepreneurs the opportunity to rise up, innovate and create. And since JSRI’s mission utilizes FabLab Irbid’s facilities and machinery, supporting them is nothing short of a must.
