Mobile Fablab Now in Jerash

In November 2020, the mobile Fablab made its first stop in Mafraq. The northern governorate hosted the mobile Fablab for nearly 3 months as students, makers, and innovators attended the “Digital Fabrication” program. The mobile Fablab is now at its second stop to give makers in Jerash the same opportunity.

The mobile Fablab is now at its second destination; the ancient city of Jerash. After 9 students graduated from the program’s first cohort, the mobile Fablab completed its mission in Mafraq and has been since relocated to Jerash. The new location of the mobile Fablab in Jerash is both strategic and exciting. The mobile Fablab is placed in the ancient Jerash ruins in the city. Makers and innovators are now registering to train in the first of its kind mobile Fablab in Jordan, in a city that is thousands of years old.

The mobile FabLab aims to create a comprehensive infrastructure across the Kingdom, to teach and train the beneficiaries on the latest devices, tools, and programs in the digital fabrication field such as web development, computer aided design and cutting, scanning, 3D printing, designing and manufacturing electronic panels, and programing.

Mobile FabLab was inspired and built by FabLab Irbid. The fabrication facility at Irbid is the first digital fabrication laboratory in Jordan, and one of the 20 largest facilities of its kind among the International Fab Foundation network. Luminus ShamalStart inaugurated FabLab Irbid in 2016, to lend inspired prospective project owners in the north of Jordan the needed resources to transform pioneering ideas into actual prototypes that serve their local communities and advance industries at large.
